PhD in Political Science from the University of Minnesota, USA (2023), and MA from Fundação Getulio Vargas, Brazil (2017). Assistant Professor of International Relations.
Before joining the Instituto de Ciencia Política, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow (2023-2025) and Hans J. Morgenthau Fellow (2021-2022) at the Notre Dame International Security Center, University of Notre Dame. He also served as Managing Editor of the journal Security Studies (2020-2022).
His research focuses on international conflict and civil-military relations, with particular attention to military power, battlefield performance, and the causes, consequences, and measurement of armed conflict. Within civil-military relations, his work examines public opinion, the establishment (or erosion) of civilian control over the military, and defense policy and reform. He is also interested in research design, quantitative methods, and conceptual and measurement questions. His work has been published in journals including Comparative Political Studies, Security Studies, Armed Forces & Society, and Democracy and Security.
